Kurt Anderson, General Manager and host of of Sunday Afternoon Classics tells us how he puts together his programs. “Selecting the music for my programs is like making a good meal for some old and new friends. You want a good blend of music. There should be some comfortable, favorite selections, like a Haydn concerto, a Mozart symphony or a Brahms serenade, like a good entrée. You also want to serve an interesting appetizer and side dishes, like a breathtaking Debussy piano solo or the quiet yet stunning ‘Flower Duet’ aria. Then of course there is dessert. That could be a rousing overture like Bernstein's ‘Candide’ or Stravinsky's ‘Suite Italienne.’ And as any cook knows, there is another meal, or program, to follow that one and on it goes. There is always more great music to serve at WMNR.”
